Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible,
but not everything is constructive. (I Corinthians 10:23)
Why do you serve Christ?
Some recent friends reminded me how difficult many Christians
find this question. It always seems to catch Christians off guard.
Many even admit to not knowing the answer.
Why do you serve Christ?
Someone, "To get to heaven."
Me, "I serve Him because He is the Way, the Truth,
and the Life."
Someone, "Because He told us to."
Me, "Hmmm. Must my groom really DEMAND that I make
love with Him? His words but caress my spirit, leaving me longing
only for more. My Lover, come to bed with me so that everyday my love
for
you might grow. Lover, where have you gone? Your bride awaits."
Someone, "If I serve Him, He will give me eternal
life."
Me, "TODAY he gives me life, and I trust tomorrow
He will also. I can not move my hand without His presence. I can
not eat without the taste of His honey, His meat, His manna upon my
lips.
I am refreshed by His wine, His water, His milk. I can not listen
without His words falling upon my ears. Life? HE is my life. And my
soul, flesh,
and spirit overfloweth with love."
If you want you can return to a life of sin, for everything
is permissible, but I have found that the wages of sin is death. For
I was once a lost son, and took part in the world. But there was no
manna, honey, meat, wine, water, or milk. Nor was there any joy. But
I did find plenty of loneliness, pain, starvation, and misery. But
lo and behold, PRAISE THE LORD! When I returned home I found that my
father had prepared a feast for me! And in His arms I find constant
love and companionship! I shall not leave again!
Grace merely allows us to live a life of sin, but IT
DOES NOT MAKE SIN BENEFICIAL!
So please, we are all free to return to our perversion
and desires of the flesh, but as for ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD WE SHALL SERVE
THE LORD! And I have many brothers and sisters! I will but live and
die for Christ. Who is with me? I can already hear your trumpets blowing!
I Corinthians 6:12 Everything is permissible for me,
but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me,
BUT I WILL NOT BE MASTERED BY ANYTHING!
In His joy, love, peace, patience, goodness, mercy, discipline,
strength, grace, compassion, comfort, healing, and much more!
