To install a necessary and useful utility found on most other forums called the  "ignore user" feature on this board, I did ask this question in another thread the other day, but didn't receive an answer, hopefully this is the right place to post this suggestion Sigh

Such software exists. I've seen it being used. Sounds great in theory but in everyday use it doesn't work well.
Suppose you want to ignore user A.
Users B, C, ....., Z discuss with A so you still see the conversation and quite often also the text quoted from user A.

Say the next user that reads this thread has you on his/her ignore list.
He/she won't see your message but he/she does see my quote of your message.
Unless I'm blacklisted too offcourse

I wouldn't utilize the feature against you or most others, only those that make repetitive threads and posts aimed at causing trouble and stating that only their views are correct and almost everyone else is wrong and deceived, it becomes extremely tiresome after a while

Perhaps I just won't load the threads in question, that may be a better solution after all 2c

"less I'm blacklisted too off course"
That was just part of the explanation.

That might be possible if that user only posts in a few threads. But if that user is all over the place it in essence means you have given yourself a ban from a large part of the forum.
Surely that a solution that's worse than the problem...

Hey, hey  - Shadow!  If I had that feature, I'd sure turn it on quickly!  There are certain posters who follow me around and argue with me in every topic I post.  I'd put them on my ignore list in a New York minute in order to avoid their desire to be continuously contentious.  Such characters used to be banned back in the day no matter how much of a UR believer they are.

Just ignore them?  You don't need a button for that!

True, you don't need a button for that, except that you have to put up with some 'in your face' tactics and if I had an 'ignore button', I would be able to disable their ability to dog me.
